§ Mr. Stephenasked the Minister of Labour what weekly increase of contribution from employer and insured person it is estimated would be necessary to increase unemployment insurance benefits to £1 a week for a man or woman, with 10s. a week for wife or adult dependant, and 5s. for each child, on the basis of the present number of unemployed in receipt of unemployment benefit?
§ Mr. E. BrownOn the basis mentioned by the hon. Member an increased weekly contribution for adults of 14d. each from employers, employed and the Exchequer would be necessary. I should add that on the basis which the Unemployment Insurance Statutory Committee have adopted for regulating the finance of the Fund the increase would have to be at least 2d. a week from each of the three parties.
