HC Deb 15 April 1937 vol 322 c1201W
Mr. Parker

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in cases where the Post Office offers work to ex-service men of riot more than 40 years of age and not less than 5 feet 4 inches in height, the stipulation as to height is always enforced; and whether he will be prepared to relax it in the case of men who were accepted for service in His Majesty's Forces during the War?

Sir W. Womersley

The height limit is strictly enforced in the recruitment of ex-service men to situations as postmen and I regret that in the interests of efficiency I am unable to make the exception proposed.
