HC Deb 15 April 1937 vol 322 c1208W
Lieut.-Colonel Moore

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in connection with the Imperial Conference to be held in London this year, he will consider the desirability of holding a special Colonial conference, to which representatives of the leading industrial and agricultural interests in the Colonies would be invited?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

I hope that I and my advisers will have the opportunity of discussing many questions with representatives from the Colonial Empire who will be in London during the next few months, but I do not think that time could possibly be found for a formal conference of the nature suggested during the current year, having regard to the pressure on all concerned of unavoidable public engagements.
