HC Deb 15 April 1937 vol 322 c1200W
Mr. T. Morris

asked the Secretary for Mines whether his attention has been called to the serious shortage of British coal; and whether he has received any representations from the business interests concerned suggesting that the quota should be increased?

Captain Crookshank

Yes, Sir, but no action on my part in this respect is called for, as the allocations made by the Central Council of Colliery Owners, on which the quotas are based, have been fixed so as to meet in full the requirements of the districts, and supplementary allocations have been freely granted as demand requires.
