Mr. R. Duckworthasked the Minister of Pensions how many applications for pensions have been made by ex-service men who have previously not applied during the last five years; and how many of such applications were successful?
§ Mr. RamsbothamI regret that I am unable to give figures which do not involve duplicate applications. I may say, however, that during the five years ended December last some 16,000 applications (more than half of which were from existing or former pensioners) were received for fresh disabilities claimed to be due to war service. Of these 2,600 were established and accepted for pension or treatment.
