HC Deb 14 April 1937 vol 322 c1025W
Mr. Watkins

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what was the surplus realised in the Gold Coast at the end of the last financial year; whether this surplus, or any part of it, will be used for improving education; and, if so, on what branch of education?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

Final information as to the surplus in 1936–37 is not yet available. As regards the remainder of the question, the Colony's Estimates for 1937–38 have not yet reached me for consideration but are expected shortly.
