asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs how many deaths from tuberculosis have been recorded in Newfoundland in 1936, and how the figures compare with previous years?

I understand that the returns for deaths from tuberculosis in Newfoundland in 1936 are not yet complete, but that in 15 out of the 18 registration districts, deaths from this disease total 544. This gives a mortality rate of 1.9 per 1,000. The total number of deaths from tuberculosis and the mortality rates per 1,000 of the population in previous years were as follow:
