HC Deb 26 November 1936 vol 318 c576W
Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Labour whether, with a view to increasing the allowances and granting extra assistance to all applicants for benefit this Christmas, he will consult with the Minister of Health and the officials of the Unemployment Assistance Board for the purpose of seeing whether joint recommendations can be made so as to prevent any differentiation in treatment to applicants?

Mr. E. BROWN

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given on 19th November to the hon. Member for Stoke-on-Trent (Mr. E. Smith), from which it will be seen that no useful purpose would be served by consultation of the kind suggested.
