§ Mr. ROWLANDSasked the Secretary for Mines whether he proposes to take any further steps in regard to the working of overtime at coal mines?
Captain C ROOKSHANKYes, Sir. My hon. Friend will remember that the recent special inquiry into the working of overtime in Scotland disclosed an exceptionally high proportion of overtime there. From inquiries which I have made, I am still dissatisfied with the position in Scotland, and I have, therefore, appointed a special Inspector who is at present stationed in that district and who will devote his whole time to the overtime problem.
