Mr. R. C. MORRISON asked the Minister of Agriculture whether his attention has been called to the exceptionally high prices of eggs; and whether, in view of the fact that the Home output this year is lower than that of last year, he will encourage produce
§ Mr. RAMSBOTHAMMy right hon. Friend is aware that the wholesale prices of eggs have been higher this year than for a number of years past. Information is not yet available to enable him to say what the production of eggs this year will be, but the fact that the number of young fowls on farms in June of this year was larger than a year earlier suggests that the improvement in prices has already had some effect in encouraging producers to make arrangements to increase their output of eggs.
