§ Mr. LLOYDThe latest figures available are those for 1935. During that year out of 6,385 males convicted at courts of assize and quarter sessions, 14 were ordered to receive corporal punishment; 13,248 boys under 14 were found guilty of indictable offences by courts of summary jurisdiction and 214 were ordered to be whipped.
