BROWNThe methods to be adopted in the inquiry into working-class family expenditure, which will be necessary in order to provide the information required for the purpose of a revision of the basis of the cost-of-living index number, are still under consideration by the committee who were appointed to advise on this subject. It is not yet possible to say when the inquiry will be completed but it will occupy a considerable time, as was made clear when the decision to undertake it was announced.
