§ Mr. HICKSasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is in a position to state what localities have been selected as sites for the new ordnance factories on removal from Woolwich Arsenal?
Mr. COOPERThe War Office have had under consideration the provision, in localities less open to air attack, of certain of the factory activities now carried on at Woolwich Arsenal and Waltham Abbey. Two sites have been selected for factories for the operation of filling ammunition with explosives, one at Chorley in Lancashire and one at Bridgend in South Wales. A third site in Scotland is under consideration for a factory for the manufacture of explosives, but it. is not possible at present to state the precise locality, as inquiries have not yet been completed.
