HC Deb 20 May 1936 vol 312 cc1208-9W
Sir J. NALL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware of the prolonged delay and expensive procedure to which British firms are subjected when taking action to recover debts in the courts of Brazil; and whether he will make representations in the matter to the Brazilian Government?

Viscount CRANBORNE

While my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary has received no complaints on the particular matters referred to by my hon. Friend, criticisms have been received of the attitude of the courts in Brazil in certain cases where British firms were involved and representations have been made to the Brazilian Government regarding them.
