§ Mr. DAYasked the Under-Secretary of State for India the number of political prisoners in India who have been incarcerated for more than five years, and the number who have been released during the last 12 months?
§ Mr. BUTLERAs I informed the hon. Member on the 4th May no person convicted of offences connected with the civil disobedience movement has been in prison for five years. The number of persons convicted of such offences who were in prison on the 1st March, 1935, was 52, and the number on the same date in 1936 was five.
