HC Deb 04 May 1936 vol 311 cc1356-7W
Mr. LIDDALL

asked the Attorney-General whether his attention has been drawn to the efforts of the Bribery and Secret Commissions Prevention, League to stop the practice of certain wine and spirit firms paying waiters to influence the sale of certain brands and to the existence of firms of branded-cork buyers; and whether he will consider taking steps to put an end to this?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL

I have seen a statement which I accept that the Bribery and Secret Commissions Prevention League are making efforts to stop the practice referred to. I have no information as to the actual steps they are taking. I presume the last part of the question refers to criminal proceedings. If my hon. Friend thinks that offences against the law are being committed I will of course consider any specific case that may be put before me.
