HC Deb 30 March 1936 vol 310 c1633W
Major HERBERT

asked the hon. Member for Central Leeds as representing the Ecclesiastical Commissioners the number of firms and individuals employed, either wholly or mainly, in the collection of tithe rentcharges; and the aggregate of the salaries and commissions paid for the rendering of this service?

Mr. DENMAN

The required information is not in the possession of the Ecclesiastical Commissioners.

Colonel BURTON

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether it is the intention of the Government to implement by legislation, either partially or wholly, the report of the Tithe Rent Commission?

Mr. ELLIOT

A statement of Government policy in regard to the report of the Royal Commission on Tithe Rentcharge was published as a White Paper on 28th February (Cmd. 5102). As indicated in paragraph 23 of the White Paper, it is the Government's intention to introduce the necessary legislation as soon as possible.
