HC Deb 24 March 1936 vol 310 c1070W
Sir R. GOWER

asked the Minister of Health whether each of his inspectors, charged with the duty of holding inquiries into the condition of houses, inspects both externally and internally each house the subject of any such inquiry; and how many allegations has he received in connection with recent inquiries, including the one into Nos. 1–7, Locks Square, Southwark, that this has not been done?

Sir K. WOOD

It is the practice of my inspectors to inspect houses both externally and internally except where it is impossible to obtain admission or where the owner's representative agrees that one house may be taken as representative of a group in the same ownership. In addition to the case to which my hon. Friend refers, one other case has been brought to my notice where it is alleged that the house was not inspected internally. In order to remove any doubts as to the extent of the inspection in this case I am arranging for a further inspection to be made of the property.
