HC Deb 09 March 1936 vol 309 c1823W
Mr. LYONS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he will enumerate the additional aerodromes that are expected to be opened in this country for civil purposes during the current year; and whether in each case arrangements are embodied for their adaptation for the purposes of defence in emergency?

Sir P. SASSOON

It is hoped that the following nine municipal aerodromes will be opened this year: Bury St. Edmunds, Cheltenham and Gloucester, Coventry, Oxford, Perth, Weston-super-Mare, Wolverhampton, Worcester, York. All of these would be suitable and easily adaptable for defence purposes in an emergency. Special arrangements at the present stage for their adaptation are not necessary.
