§ Major TRYONThe conversion to automatic working of the remaining manual exchanges in the London automatic area, within 10 miles of Oxford Circus, will, it is hoped, be completed by about 1942. It is not possible to make a close estimate of the cost of the conversion, as it depends on the growth of the number of subscribers; but it seems likely that the cost will be at least £10,000,000.
