I made a grant from the Road Fund towards the cost of the new bridge to be constructed over the Clyde, and have already announced that it has been decided to preserve Telford's Bridge as an example of his work. I am, however, un-1984W able to adopt the hon. Member's suggestion that the old bridge should be used for one-way traffic, because it is structurally unfitted to bear the loads imposed by modern traffic and is situated on a dangerous bend.
