asked the President of the Board of Education whether he has received any reports on the teaching of foreign languages in secondary schools through the medium of gramophone records; has this method proved satisfactory; and is it the intention of his Department to recommend the use of this method in all secondary schools?

Mr. STANLEY

The board are at present engaged in considering returns made by His Majesty's Inspectors as to the use made of gramophone records in a number of secondary schools, and I would prefer to answer the latter part of the hon. Member's question when the results of this consideration are available.
