§ Mr. JOHNasked the President of the Board of Education whether he will state the number of teachers who are leaving the training colleges this term; the number of those teachers who have obtained posts through education authorities applying direct to the college for teachers; the names of such education authorities; and the number of teachers taken by each?
Mr. STANLEYThe number of students who will have completed courses under the Regulations for the Training of Teachers this summer is estimated to be about 6,500. Different local education authorities no doubt employ different methods in recruiting their teaching staffs, and I am afraid that I have not the information which would enable me to answer the latter parts of the hon. Member's question.
