§ Sir K. WOODI regret that the figures desired by the hon. Member are not available. When the occurrence of a series of cases of mastitis among maternity patients is reported to my Department, with a request for assistance or advice, special investigations directed to the possible causes of the outbreak are carried out by my medical officers, and recommendations are made as to the action to be taken to prevent the spread of infection, and, as far as practicable, to avoid future outbreaks.
