HL Deb 23 July 1936 vol 102 c224WA
LORD STRICKLAND

asked whether His Majesty's Government is aware that Judges in Malta are required by law to deliver written judgments in open Court to be immediately available to the public, and that nevertheless judgments have frequently been unavailable or illegible for considerable periods; will information be given as to the duration and number of these delays during the last twelve months and as to the cause thereof?

THE EARL OF PLYMOUTH

His Majesty's Government are aware that there is a provision in the local laws of organisation and civil procedure that sentences shall be pronounced publicly.

I have no information with regard to the matters referred to in the second part of the Question, but inquiries will be made of the Governor of Malta.

House adjourned at a quarter before five o'clock.
