Mr. DAVID ADAMSasked the Minister of Health whether he will state the number of local authorities which have adopted differential rent schemes; and what resolutions he has received protesting against the operation of the same?
§ Mr. SHAKESPEAREMy right hon. Friend has recently asked local authorities to submit particulars of any scheme adopted for the purpose of granting rebates from rents under Section 51 of the Housing Act, 1935. Returns have so far been received from some 600 local authorities and show that of these 50 are administering rent rebate schemes. My right hon. Friend is not aware of any protests against the operation of such schemes.
