HC Deb 14 July 1936 vol 314 c1893W
Lieut.-Commander FLETCHER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can make any statement on the progress of the Anglo-Egyptian Conference?

Viscount CRANBORNE

Progress has been made, and the discussions have now reached a point where it has been found possible to set up a drafting committee composed of representatives of both parties to draft the texts of all the military clausesad referendum. The Second Legal Adviser to the Foreign Office arrived in Egypt on 5th July to take part in the discussions. The Sudan and civil clauses have not yet been touched upon.
