§ Mr. MORGANasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the fact that between 1926 and 1934 the goods handled at Jaffa port increased, despite the absence of a harbour, from 167,106 tons per annum to 607,941 tons per annum, he can state the reason for the delay in providing adequate harbour facilities at this place?
Mr. THOMASI am not clear as to the reasons for suggesting that there has been delay. Work on a scheme for the development of the port has been in active progress since 1934. A considerable improvement in its facilities has already been achieved.
