HC Deb 29 May 1935 vol 302 cc1147-8W
Mr. MORGAN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what has been the outcome of the discussions which have taken place between British shipping interests and Palestine exporters of citrus fruit; and whether any arrangements have been made for the export in British ships of a substantial proportion of Palestine citrus exports next season?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I have no information regarding the results of recent discussions between representatives of shipping companies and Palestine exporters or regarding arrangements for next season's shipments, which are normally made privately. I understand that the High Commissioner for Palestine has recently appointed a committee, on which the citrus industry is represented, to study the systems in use for the trans port of the citrus crop from the groves to the ports of destination and the marketing of citrus in general, and to offer suggestions for improvement.
