YOUNGThe total number of persons in receipt of poor relief in England and Wales (including dependants but excluding rate-aided patients in mental hospitals, persons in receipt of domiciliary medical relief only and casuals) on 20th April, 1935, was 1,333,163. The numbers on the corresponding days in 1934, 1933, 1932, and 1931 were 1,377,160, 1,319,452, 1,195,047, and 1,022,241 respectively
