HC Deb 08 May 1935 vol 301 cc971-2W
Mr. GROVES

asked the Minister of Health whether the 79 cases of scarlet fever notified in the Eton rural district during the week ending 9th March were cases that actually developed during that week; and, if not, whether he can state the approximate dates on which the illnesses started that were subsequently found to be cases of scarlet fever?

Sir H. YOUNG

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and the second part therefore does not arise.

Mr. GROVES

asked the Minister of Health by what means the medical officer of health for the Eton rural district established the similarity of the germs in the throats of members of the Barrett family and the germs found in the incriminated milk supply?

Sir H. YOUNG

I am informed that this similarity was established by the application of appropriate bacteriological tests.
