§ Mr. MACQUISTENasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the steel makers of Great Britain, notwithstanding the high duty now imposed on foreign steel, are not purchasing British machinery for steel manufacture but buying from foreign sources, which are heavily subsidised by foreign governments, with the intention that the steel-machinery industry in this country may be embarrassed; and, in view of the vital need of such steel-machinery works being maintained in an efficient condition, will he take steps to end purchases of foreign steel-making machinery?
