HC Deb 28 March 1935 vol 299 c2092W
Mrs. COPELAND

asked the Home Secretary whether he will take steps to alleviate the hardship caused to widows of ex-police officers whose pension on the death of their husbands is so small that they are often worse off than those in receipt of Poor Law assistance?

Sir J. GILMOUR

Representations have been made to me that the pensions payable to the widows of police officers should be increased, and these will be duly considered with other proposed amendments of the Police Pensions Act, 1921. In any case, however, there would be no possibility of legislation at the present time.
