Mr. LEONARD

asked the Minister of Agriculture the total quantity of milk distributed in connection with the scheme for the supply of milk to school children at ½d. per bottle, in the months of January and February, 1935, in England and Scotland, respectively?

Mr. ELLIOT

According to the latest information available to the Milk Marketing Board for England and Wales, the quantity of milk distributed in England and Wales under the Milk in Schools Scheme was, during January, 2,062,000 gallons and during February, 2,128,000 gallons. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for (Scotland informs me that the Scottish Milk Marketing Board estimate that under their corresponding scheme, 113,000 gallons of milk were supplied during January and 174,000 gallons during February in the area covered by their operations. Figures are not yet available with respect to the area of the North of Scotland Milk Mar- keting Board, and there is no Milk in Schools Scheme in the area of the Aberdeen and District Board.
