Mr. T. MORRISasked the Minister of Labour whether the Government propose to adopt the report of the Unemployment Assistance Board in favour of the extension of unemployment insurance to agricultural labourers; whether the Statistical Commission is now considering the extension of insurance to other branches of the community; and, if so, of what nature?
Mr. STANLEYI presume my hon. Friend refers in both parts of his question to the Unemployment Insurance Statutory Committee set up under the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1934. As regards agriculture, no decision has yet been reached on the Committee's proposals. The Committee are also considering the question of the extension of unemployment insurance to cover non-2092W manual workers remunerated at a rate in excess of £250 a year.
