HC Deb 04 March 1935 vol 298 cc1597-8W
Mr. DINGLE FOOT

asked the Secretary of State for India the amount realised by tile export duty on raw jute in each of the last five financial years?

Sir S. HOARE

The gross amount of export duty collected in India on raw jute in each of the five years ending 31st March, 1934, was as follows:

Year. Rs.
1929–30 1,98,84,812
1930–31 1,48,51,593
1931–32 1,44,07,568
1932–33 1,36,68,905
1933–34 1,77,56,148

Colonial Dependencies. I have not yet received reports from all the Dependencies concerned, but I append statistics showing imports from the United Kingdom during the first and last quarters of the year in respect of those Dependencies from which replies have been received. I have included the figures relating to artificial silk piece goods in a separate table, as I think that these also will be of interest to the House. It will be noticed that the imports into Malaya during December have not yet been reported, so that the figures compared are two months for the later period against three months for the earlier.
