HC Deb 21 June 1935 vol 303 c710W
Mr. JOEL

asked the Minister of Labour what has been the average weekly credit and debit balance on the working of the Unemployment Insurance Fund during the past month?

Mr. E. BROWN

During the past four weeks the receipts of the Unemployment Fund on insurance account have exceeded payments, on average, by about £290,000 per week, after allowing for the accruing charge for debt services under Section 60 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1935. Owing to the decrease in unemployment and seasonal variations in income, the figure of £290,000 is largely in excess of the average weekly difference for the period from 1st January, 1935.
