HL Deb 30 July 1935 vol 98 cc954-6WA
LORD NOEL-BUXTON

asked His Majesty's Government whether any reply has yet been received from the United States Government upon the question of Liberia; and what action His Majesty's Government proposes to take at the Assembly of the League on the matter.

THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (EARL STAN-HOPE)

In view of the short notice I have received of this Question, I regret that my reply must necessarily be brief. The United States Government have replied to the communication made to them by His Majesty's Government on the subject of Liberia and, as the noble Lord will be aware, they have now recognised the Government of that country. The question of action in the Assembly of the League of Nations is under consideration.

House adjourned at three minutes before seven o'clock.
