§ Mr. MANDERasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what action it is proposed to take with reference to the criticism by the Committee of Public Accounts of the action of the Treasury in connection with the sum of £93,000 advanced from the Civil Contingencies Fund in December, 1933, for the purchase of the Codex Sinaiticus?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe comments of the Committee do not call for any action in this particular case. The Committee's views on the interpretation of the rules governing the use of the Civil Contingencies Fund are receiving consideration, and a statement will be included in the Treasury Minute which, under accepted procedure, will be prepared on the Report of the Committee.
