§ Mr. R. C. MORRISONasked the Secretary for Mines whether he will state the amount in gallons of the several descriptions of light and heavy hydrocarbon oil produced from coal in Great Britain in each of the years ended 31st March, 1934 and 1935, and the estimated production for the year ended 31st March, 1936?
§ Captain CROOKSHANKInformation of the kind asked for is available only in respect of calendar years. In response to requests mane during the Debate on the British Hydrocarbon Oils Production Bill in 1934, a special section was inserted in the Annual Report of the Secretary for Mines for 1934 (pages 16–18) giving full information about the production of light and heavy oils from indigenous materials for recent years up to 1934. A copy of the report is in the Library. For the calendar year 1935 it is estimated that the production of light oils from coal and coal products may amount to about 70 million gallons, as compared with 50 million gallons in 1934. It is not possible at present to give an estimate of the production of heavy oils in 1935.
