JONESasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that the use of the slip previously affixed to Air Ministry contracts asking contractors to give preference to the employment of ex-service men has been discontinued; what is the reason for such discontinuance; whether representations on this matter have been made by the United Services League; and, if so, whether any reply has been sent to the League?
§ Sir P. SASSOONThe use of the slip regarding employment of ex-service men was discontinued some years ago. A new slip, asking contractors to make use of the national employment exchanges, was introduced, and this should secure that full consideration is given to the claims of ex-service men. The representations referred to by my hon. Friend have been received, and arc under consideration.
