HC Deb 31 October 1934 vol 293 cc198-9W
Captain STRICKLAND

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if any safety switch has yet been invented for automatically cutting out the electric circuits in aeroplane engines in the event of violent impact, thus minimising the danger of fire; and whether any such device has yet proved satisfactory?

Sir P. SASSOON

Three designs of such switches have been investigated and tested. Each fulfils the functions for which it was designed, and approval has been given for their use in civil aircraft.
