Mr. T. MORRISasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the increasing number of so-called disease-carrying persons; whether he has any statistics on the subject; and what diseases can be carried and are carried by individuals?
Sir H. YOUNGI am advised that there is no evidence that the number of disease-carrying persons is increasing, but no doubt in recent years improvements in bacteriological and serological technique and their wider application in public health practice have enabled the presence of such persons to be more readily discovered. No national statistics are available on this subject, but I understand that the results of many special inquiries, both at home and abroad, have been published. I am advised that present knowledge suggests that most infectious diseases may be carried in this way.
