The number of trees planted by the Forestry Commission last season was 53,928,000. The species were as follow:

Scots and Corsican pines 15,184,000
European and Japanese larches 7,765,000
Douglas fir 1,230,000
Norway and Sitka spruces 24,018,000
Oak 1,785,000
Ash 411,000
Beech 1,794,000
Others 1,741,000
