§ Mr. JOELasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the fact that the value of 855W pottery imported into this country during the first nine months of this year was £1,148,470, as against £500,612 for a similar period in 1932, and £824,712 for that period in 1933; and whether he is satisfied that this increase in imports is necessary?
§ Dr. BURGINI am aware of the figures to which my hon. Friend refers. With regard to the last part of the question, the increase in imports is not unexpected having regard to the increased activity in the building industry.
