§ Mr. RUNCIMANAccording to returns published by Lloyd's Register of Shipping in respect of merchant vessels of 100 tons gross and upwards, work was in hand on 30th September, 1934, in the Clyde district on 48 vessels of 290,841 tons gross and in the Newcastle district on 10 vessels of 61,430 tons gross. I have no information to enable me to estimate the value of the work in progress or the value of the work on ships still to be laid down.
