BRASSasked the Minister of Transport whether, with regard to the large quantities of painted metal posts with hollow glass heads that have been set up to mark pedestrian crossing places, he will state how many of these so-called beacons have been ordered by his Department and by local authorities, and at what cost per beacon, including erection?
§ Mr. HORE-BELISHAThe cost of a complete beacon (including the cost of erection) is 30s. As I informed the House on Tuesday last, about 5,000 pedestrian crossing places have already been provided, the majority of which have been, or are in the course of being, provided with beacons.
