§ Mr. ATTLEEasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has informed or proposes to inform British nationals that contracts and agreements with the de facto Government in Manchuria are unenforceable in view of 371W the fact that the establishment of this Government is contrary to the rights of the Chinese Government as guaranteed by the Nine Power Treaty, and that His Majesty's Government would therefore be precluded from rendering any assistance to them in the enforcement of such contracts?
§ Mr. EDENThe exceptional conditions now ruling in Manchuria are well known to British interests having business there. Opportunity has, however, been taken as it arose of pointing out informally the difficulties inherent in the situation.
