§ Mr. GROVESasked the Minister of Transport the number of fatal accidents occasioned to children in the United Kingdom last year; the number due to road accidents; and the general causes from which the others were sustained?
Sir H. YOUNGI have been asked to reply. The particulars asked for by the hon. Member are not yet available for the year 1933, but in 1932 the approximate number of persons in Great Britain under the age of 15 years who died as a result of accidents was 3,700. Of these deaths, approximately 1,450 were due to road accidents; the other principal causes were burns and scalds, suffocation, drowning, falls and inattention at birth.
