Number of persons in respect of whom pensions were in payment on the 31st March, 1934. £ Widows', Orphans' and Old Age (65–70) Comtributory Pensions. 40,943,000 1,775,000* Old Age Pensions to persons over 70, payable under the Old Age Pensions Acts, 1908–1924. 40,345,000 1,582,000 * This figure includes 320,000 children in respect of whom allowances are payable as part of widows' pensions.
